Before beginning your neck exercises, it is important to talk with your Chiropractor first. If you have been a neck pain sufferer, then it is important to start these exercises at the correct point in your rehabilitative phase of treatment. Starting them too soon may cause a regression in your condition. So, talk your Chiropractor and he or she will keep you right for the best results.
If you haven’t had neck pain then these exercises are an excellent way to increase and maintain suppleness in your neck. So many of my patients are stuck at a desk on a computer all day and often end up with neck and upper back problems. A good idea before starting these exercises though, is to book a neck and back assessment with your Chiropractor. As well as exercise advice, he or she will give you pointers on the best posture for work and non work situations, including computer workstation ergonomics.
Each exercise should be held for 20-30 seconds and done gently to begin with. For optimal results you should perform these exercises 3 times each in one session. Remember to never use too much force or fast jerking motions. If pain or other symptoms occur then stop and discuss with your Chiropractor. You should aim to perform these neck exercises at least once per day.
