How often do we sit with the posture shown in the picture below? Head carried forwards, producing continuous unnecessary mechanical stress on upper back and lower neck. The head is fundamentally a weight that is balanced on a lever, the neck. The fulcrum or pivotal point for the lever (neck) is at it’s base, where it joins the upper back. All the load above the fulrum is concentrated here. This is the area where the first signs of neck pain and osteo arthritis commonly begin.
If you assume this posture for 30 minutes each day, then you are negatively training and straining this area for 3 and one half hours per week. Most people positively train at the gym for 3-4 hours per week and achieve good results. So, why woould you prematurely give yourself osteo artritis and neck pain when you can simply lift the mobile device up a little higher and sit up strainght.
